Mischief Monday - Other Smells - By Phod

Dearest Blogville,

Do your people ever come home smelling like other animals?  If they do, do you feel all sad like I do? I am left alone to guard the house. I am usually such a good boy, and I love my Lady so. Why oh why does she need to go out and spend time with others?

Recently she has come home smelling like this:

duck! My very favourite food in the whole wide world. This is Daffy, formally Pandora, being held by Lady's coworker. As you may recall, Lady has a client doing some volunteer work at an animal sanctuary called Big Sky Ranch. Some family had gotten Pandora (who turns out to be a boy) as a pet and realized ducks just pee where they want to. Daffy is now being loved at the Ranch.

There was also cat. This picture was taken by Lady's client (he loves to take her picture and has thousands of her she is sure!). She is petting a cat whose name she doesn't know. She said he/she was the perfect mix of her angels Baggy and Nin. She wanted to bring him home!

Then on Good Friday she came home smelling like another cat and a dog who had been sprayed by a skunk. The dog is being looked after by a friend, but is looking for a new home as his owner's circumstances have unfortunately changed. Lady didn't take a picture but said the dog looked so much like angel Loki she wanted to just bring him home. The Man was there to stop her or we would be a 3 dog house. When she has me to love why would she need more?

When Lady comes home with these smells, I sniff her all over to show my disapproval. She can barely walk as I am sniffing her. This picture is her trying to get into the house, but my nose wouldn't get off her. Hailey joined me in the sniffing, but got over it quickly.

What do you do when your peeps come home smelling like traitors? Do you show them your disapproval?

A very good but sad Phod

  1. oh Phod don't be sad... see it from the bright side... your lady is a smell-venture for you and Lee when she comes home and finally to smell a skunked pup and it is not you is a very good thing :o)

Deary me, what to do? I think DP has the right idea - think of it as nose-travel, taking you places you could otherwise not go! The impawtant thing is that Lady ALWAYS comes back to you!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  4. Oh Phod, I understand! It's hard when our mommas come home smelling like other animals. BUT at least it was because she was helping other animals that don't HAVE a home to go to. She wasn't just going and loving on someone else's pets. I don't mind sharing Momma (SOMETIMES!) with less fortunate pups, because she's given me so much.

  9. Phod, I feel ya pal, my mom doesn't meet a strange animal and she always feels need to love on them. We're lucky we have dad's who stop them from bring every animal home that they meet.

    Aroo to you,

  11. Sometimes there's a doggie visiting the nursing home where ghostwriter works whom she may have petted. I'm OK with that.

  14. I give her that 'you got some serious 'splaining to do, mom!" look. But like it when she apologizes like crazy and gives me treats to make up for her traitorous ways.

  16. Yep, they get the big sniffover from us too. But Mom keeps telling us it is just because she loves animals so much. We must admit she has never come home smelling like a duck:)

  18. Our mom volunteers at the local shelter and comes home smelling like stranger cats all the time! We don't like that she does but we do like that she helps these kitties.

  23. Oh precious Phod, we are so sorry that you get so distressed, so does cousin Jessie James. We don't get too worried because we know Mom always comes home to us and gives us lots and lots of cuddles :)

  24. OH MAN! Dude, I don't knows what to say! I have to admit, I'm kinda like Hailey, I just give a good sniff, and forgets about it. I figure, she's home ALONE, all's good. Butts, Ma's Angel Annie was like you....sniff until she hyperventilated!!! BOL! Nows, I say, turn of the sad eyes, gets some extra cookies and then forgive her with a good snuggle.
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  25. Dear Handsome Phod,

Our person regularly comes home smelling like other Dogs, and the treats she gives to them but not to us. Getting mad doesn't help. Sigh. I almost don't even bother to sniff anymore, unless it is Simon's smell on her. Then I sniff! (He smells so handsome!)

However our person has never come home smelling like duck! At least not an alive one! It is very cute! (Ojo thinks it looks tasty.)

  26. What a bummer, P. I think the most important thing about what our families do all day is that they come home to US. Other furries need a little love and support while they wait for rescue. There's always plenty of love left when our parents get home.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  27. Oh Phod it doesn't mean she loves you less, just that she has a lot of love to give. If we got upset every time our human petted or loved on another cat or dog we would stay depressed. Our Mom comes home smelling like goats, chickens, too many cats to count and dogs when she goes to visit her parents.

And you might like having a kitty sibling.

  28. We feel the same way here and always give our pawrents a thorough sniffing to check for any cheating on us.

  29. Oh, Rita feels your pain! I come home every Monday smelling like a bunch of adoptable dogs! I bring home a cookie that I snitch from the shelter to bribe her. It's only because of that cookie that I don't get shunned.
